SEM-CL Laboratory



Key Instruments
The SEM-CL laboratory consists of a Philips 515 SEM equipped with a Centaurus CL detector system (300-650nm) and an EDAX EDS system. The laboratory is available for collaboration with researchers from CNR, and also from universities, laboratories and industry. Researchers and students are kindly welcome, they can perform the analyses alone. We can also collect images and EDS data for you.


Accelerating voltage < 20 kV
Magnification ranges from 10 X to 1,000X

Sample type and dimensions
Rock thin sections (27x45mm) and epoxy resin cylinder (1 or 2 inches diameter and with a maximum thickness of 7 mm). The surface to be analyzed must be polished.
